Wichita B & B's - Davis-Moore MazdaThere’s nothing more romantic than a bed and breakfast, and there are plenty of fabulous options here in Wichita for a weekend getaway. These private retreats will have you feeling much further from home than you actually are, and you may even feel as if you’re being transported back in time. Take a breather from city life and unwind in one of these breathtaking retreats.

  1. The Inn at Glenstrae

The Inn at Glenstrae offers everything you could want in a bed and breakfast, along with a few surprises. Built by a Scottish lumber baron circa 1900, the home retains its period charm along with unique Scottish influences. The grounds were designed with a careful purpose, and are meticulously maintained.

The inn offers two guest rooms, each of which combines contemporary and classic furnishings. One is The Prairie Room, which seeks to embody the gateway to the West spirit. Ten-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, down bedding, and European linens are among the features, as well as a luxurious private bathroom. The other room is The Flint Hills Suite, which offers 900 square feet of historic character combined with modern comforts. Chic furnishings, romantic amenities, and a two-person walk-in jetted shower are among its appeals.

  1. Delano Bed and Breakfast

Enjoy privacy and peace and quiet at this tucked-away Wichita bed and breakfast. Delano Bed and Breakfast is a 105-year-old bungalow built by the co-founder of Kansas’ first car dealership. It’s an especially appealing option for those seeking to explore the sights Wichita has to offer, due to its close proximity to shopping, dining, and museums. This home is as good as a time portal with its historically preserved interior, boasting antiques, original fine art, and mission style furniture. Other amenities include a covered front porch, scenic cottage garden, and a working greenhouse during the winter months.

At Delano Bed and Breakfast, a full breakfast menu is served at the time of your choosing. Produce is bought from local farmers markets whenever possible. The Schollenberger Room was the original master bedroom of the building and features period furniture and oil paintings from early 20th century Danish artists. A walk-in closet and a large private bathroom are another part of this experience. The Good Room is another impressive option, with antiques throughout, original 20th-century European paintings, and a large bathroom.

  1. Noble House Inn

The beautiful Noble House Inn is filled with historical significance and character. Built in 1888 with notable Queen Anne architecture, it was originally occupied by George B. Chapman, a prominent local merchant, and partner in the firm of Chapman & Walker Dry Goods. It was later owned by sisters Jane and Isobel Noble, who made many instrumental civic, educational, and social contributions to the city.

The home features three bedrooms, each with their own private bath, a large covered front porch, and gazebo area. The Bentley, Ashley, and Jordan rooms are filled with beautiful antiques and modern amenities. A full gourmet breakfast is included, as is free Wi-Fi and on-site parking.

If you’ve had enough of your daily routine and are feeling weighed down by your responsibilities, pack your weekend bag and book a room at one of these luxurious hideaways. Your perfect staycation may be only a few miles away.
