The 2019 Mazda CX-5 in red

If you’re in the market for a new SUV, you should start and finish with Mazda. Their track record shows that they produce many of the most reliable and capable SUVs available today, and a test drive of one shows why.

The CX-3, CX-5, and CX-9 are all efficient and fun vehicles to own. Each comes with a fantastic infotainment system that lets you access useful hands-free features and navigation apps. Each has access to the great safety packages Mazda offers. The biggest differences between them are size, power, and level of luxury.

Choosing which one is the best fit for you and your family can be a hard choice. Here is a rundown of the top SUVs Mazda produces:

CX-3

This subcompact SUV is the perfect ride for someone who needs more space than a sedan and wants the capability and power of a full-size SUV. The 2019 Mazda CX-3 seats five and has the best fuel economy of the SUVs on this list at about 34 mpg on the highway. It’s available with all-wheel drive and comes in three trim levels to let you customize it to make the perfect vehicle for you and your family.

CX-5

If you don’t need the raw power of the higher models, but still want one with a punch, the CX-5 is perfect. It gets 148 horsepower from its SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine — more than enough to tackle the road ahead.

The CX-5 crossover is one of the more versatile crossover SUVs you’ll find on the market today. Available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, there’s a CX-5 for every street.

The CX-5 is the best of both worlds. It shares many of the same features the CX-3 and CX-9 have, creating the perfect middle ground. If it’s power you’re looking for, go with the 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve, which comes standard with the most powerful engine they offer: the SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine that delivers up to 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.

The CX-5’s infotainment system is also compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a feature it borrows from the CX-9.

CX-9

At the top of the line, the three-row CX-9 is our number-one choice for Mazda SUVs. If you’re looking for the most amount of space, this is the SUV for you. It seats seven in comfortable seats upholstered in quality materials.

Each of the CX-9’s trim levels comes standard with the SKYACTIVE-G engine, promising power in every model. The CX-9 still gets good gas mileage at 28 mpg on the highway, though it isn’t as efficient as the smaller CX-3. For the increase in size, you can get up to 71.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded down. The CX-3 gets 44.5 with its second row folded.
