Which Mazda SUV Fits Your Lifestyle?

Whether you need space, power, or to feel luxurious in a car, Mazda has an SUV for you. Here's the lowdown on three Mazdas so you can determine which one fits your lifestyle best. Mazda CX-9 The Mazda CX-9 is available in four trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature. All trims are available in all-wheel drive, while the Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring are also available with front-wheel drive. This SUV is powered by a Skyactiv-G 2.5-turbo four-cylinder engine with Dynamic Pressure Turbo that gets 250 horsepower. Each Mazda CX-9's engine is paired with a Skyactiv six-speed automatic transmission. The 18.0-inch aluminum wheels, body-colored rear roof spoiler, and dual exhaust outlets give the CX-9 a sporty look. The Grand Touring stands out with aluminum roof rails with a satin chrome finish and 20.0-inch aluminum-alloy wheels. One of the perks of owning the CX-9 is that it is great for large families or those transporting team members because it seats up to seven passengers. Inside the cabin, you'll find luxurious amenities such as leather-trimmed seats, heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and a power moonroof. A 7.0-inch full-color touch screen display and access to MazdaConnect keep you connected while on the go. Mazda CX-5 If you like a car with more options to select from, the Mazda CX-5 is your SUV because it can be customized in five trim levels — Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Grand Touring Reserve, and Signature. The Skyactive-G 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine (with Cylinder Deactivation) delivers 187 horsepower. Mazda has paired this engine with a Skyactive-Drive six-speed automatic transmission with Sport mode and manual-shift. The C X -5 has an aggressive appearance and available features, including a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna, body-colored rear roof spoiler, and bright finish dual exhaust outlets. LED headlights light the way ahead, and body-colored power side mirrors with LED turn signals ensure others know your intentions. With this car's Mazda Connect infotainment system and a 7.0-inch touch screen display with Bluetooth and Pandora integration, you now have both information and entertainment apps at the touch of a finger. Two USB inputs allow you to keep your devices charged and at the ready. Mazda CX-3 Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring are the three trim levels available for the Mazda CX-3. Each of these sport a Skyactive-G 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve four-cylinder engine with VVT. This engine will arrive paired with a Skyactive-Drive six-speed automatic transmission, and get 148 horsepower. A rear roofline spoiler and roof-mounted shark-fin antenna keep the lines sleek, and clear-lens halogen headlights light up your path.  The Touring and Grand Touring feature heated side mirrors and a piano black pillar garnish. There's plenty of room for five passengers to sit comfortably in the CX-3. If you love the feel of luxury, this is the SUV for you. The Sport has cloth-trimmed sport seats, while the seats in the Touring and Grand Touring are leather-trimmed. Also, the Grand Touring features a power sliding glass moonroof, leather steering wheel, and a Bose seven-speaker audio sound system. All trims include a Mazda Connect infotainment system, a 7.0-inch touch screen display, a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and push-button start. With so many great options, you're sure to find the perfect Mazda SUV to suit your lifestyle. Image via MazdaUSA.com

The Reveal of the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel

The American automotive market has always had a strange relationship with diesel and as a result, the vast majority of vehicles sold in the US are gasoline-only. Mazda, on the other hand, is a brand that carves its own path and doesn't shy away from innovation. At the recent New York International Auto Show, the Japanese manufacturer announced the imminent launch of the 2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel, a premium crossover SUV that's sure to dazzle US car buyers. Perfecting the Diesel Engine Mazda introducing a diesel engine vehicle to the US market is a plan that the manufacturer first announced back in 2010. From the very beginning, the plan was to sell a diesel car that was both powerful and efficient, while also complying with modern day emissions standards and therefore contributing to a cleaner and less polluted future for all of us. Although initially planned for the Mazda 6, in the end, the CX-5 SUV was chosen as the car that would be fitted with the diesel-powered engine. The result is a very fuel-efficient vehicle, especially given the fact that it will only be available in all-wheel-drive. Mazda estimates that the CX-5 Diesel will have a combined fuel consumption of 28 miles per gallon, an excellent number given the car's size, premium status, and all-wheel traction. Power and Performance Diesel engines typically produce less horsepower than their gasoline counterparts, mainly because they operate at lower revs. They do, however, produce a significantly higher amount of torque, which is very useful when the vehicle needs to go up steep hills, tackle rough terrains, or carry heavy loads. This was probably one of the reasons why the CX-5, an SUV, was preferred over the Mazda 6, which is a sedan. Most SUV drivers expect their car to successfully navigate rough paths and to have more cargo space than a sedan. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel's engine is able to produce up to 168 horsepower and 290 pound-feet of torque, very respectable numbers for such an efficient and luxurious vehicle. Although the gas-powered CX-5 engines are slightly more powerful, the vehicle's towing capacity is 3,500 pounds, 1,500 pounds higher than its gasoline counterpart. A Blend of Comfort and Style The diesel engine will only be available on the CX-5's top Signature trim, meaning all buyers will get the absolute best from what the classy SUV has to offer. Luxury interior components, such as ambient cabin lighting, premium leather upholstery, and wooden trim accents all blend perfectly with comfort-enhancing additions like the power-adjustable front seats with driver-seat memory functions. Smartphone connectivity is easy with the help of Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, or USB, while a crisp-sounding 10-speaker BOSE sound system is sure to delight all passengers. The 2019 Mazda CX-5 Diesel is sure to be an excellent mixture of comfort, luxury, technology, and efficiency while having the potential to signal a new era for cleaner and more efficient diesel engines in the US. It is currently available for pre-sale and will hit the streets this summer. Image via MazdaUSA.com

Choose Your Mazda SUV

If you're in the market for a new SUV, you should start and finish with Mazda. Their track record shows that they produce many of the most reliable and capable SUVs available today, and a test drive of one shows why. The CX-3, CX-5, and CX-9 are all efficient and fun vehicles to own. Each comes with a fantastic infotainment system that lets you access useful hands-free features and navigation apps. Each has access to the great safety packages Mazda offers. The biggest differences between them are size, power, and level of luxury. Choosing which one is the best fit for you and your family can be a hard choice. Here is a rundown of the top SUVs Mazda produces: CX-3 This subcompact SUV is the perfect ride for someone who needs more space than a sedan and wants the capability and power of a full-size SUV. The 2019 Mazda CX-3 seats five and has the best fuel economy of the SUVs on this list at about 34 mpg on the highway. It's available with all-wheel drive and comes in three trim levels to let you customize it to make the perfect vehicle for you and your family. CX-5 If you don't need the raw power of the higher models, but still want one with a punch, the CX-5 is perfect. It gets 148 horsepower from its SKYACTIV-G four-cylinder engine — more than enough to tackle the road ahead. The CX-5 crossover is one of the more versatile crossover SUVs you'll find on the market today. Available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, there's a CX-5 for every street. The CX-5 is the best of both worlds. It shares many of the same features the CX-3 and CX-9 have, creating the perfect middle ground. If it's power you're looking for, go with the 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve, which comes standard with the most powerful engine they offer: the SKYACTIV-G 2.5T engine that delivers up to 250 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The CX-5's infotainment system is also compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a feature it borrows from the CX-9. CX-9 At the top of the line, the three-row CX-9 is our number-one choice for Mazda SUVs. If you're looking for the most amount of space, this is the SUV for you. It seats seven in comfortable seats upholstered in quality materials. Each of the CX-9's trim levels comes standard with the SKYACTIVE-G engine, promising power in every model. The CX-9 still gets good gas mileage at 28 mpg on the highway, though it isn't as efficient as the smaller CX-3. For the increase in size, you can get up to 71.2 cubic feet of cargo space with the second and third rows folded down. The CX-3 gets 44.5 with its second row folded.
